This seven year photographic project documents the countries which remain under Communist Party rule during the 21st century. It explores contemporary North Korea, Cuba, China, Vietnam, Laos, Moldova and the Maoist revolution in Nepal, asking how communism has managed to survive, mutate and rebuild after the dramatic collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
The project exists as a traveling exhibition, multiple features in major publications and as a forthcoming 288-page monograph book due to be launched in Spring 2012.
Photographs from this series have won more than a dozen international awards.
